Privacy Policy
Short version: Mainspring runs on your Mac and does not collect analytics, telemetry, or personal data. The only information it ever sends is what is needed to activate and check your licence.
What the app stores on your Mac
- Your settings, favourites, recipes, and scenes, saved locally in the app's preferences.
- A record of the changes Mainspring has made, so that every change can be reversed. This stays on your Mac.
- Your licence key and licence instance ID, stored in the macOS Keychain.
None of this is transmitted to us.
What the app sends, and to whom
Mainspring contacts exactly three external services, and only in these situations:
- Licence activation and validation. When you activate a licence, and periodically to confirm it is still valid, the app contacts Dodo Payments (live.dodopayments.com). It sends your licence key, the licence instance ID, and your Mac's device name, which macOS uses as a friendly label so you can recognise which machine a licence is on.
- Purchase. If you choose to buy, the app opens Dodo Payments' checkout page in your browser. We never see or handle your card details.
- Captive portal check. If you use Hotspot mode, the app requests Apple's standard connectivity-check page (captive.apple.com) to detect a sign-in portal. This is the same check macOS itself performs and contains no personal data.
What we do not do
- No analytics, tracking, or usage telemetry in the app.
- No advertising or third-party SDKs in the app.
- No account required, and no collection of your files, documents, or browsing activity.
- We do not sell or share personal data.
This website
trymainspring.com uses Google Ads conversion tracking, which sets cookies and may be used for measuring ads and remarketing. This applies to the website only, not to the application. You can opt out through Google Ads settings or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Our web server keeps standard access logs, including IP address and requested page, for security and troubleshooting.
If you contact us or we contact you about Mainspring, we keep that correspondence so we can reply and so we can honour opt-out requests. Every message we send includes a way to opt out, and we act on it.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@trymainspring.com and we will action it.
