Favorites and pinning to the menu bar

Stars are Mainspring's shortcuts. Anything you star appears on the Favorites screen and in the Favorites section of the menu-bar panel, so you can switch it without opening the window.

Star something

Click the ☆ beside it. The star fills in; hovering shows “Pin to Favorites”, or “Unpin from Favorites” once it's pinned. Click again to unstar.

What can be starred

• Recipes — on their cards and on each recipe's own page.
• Power-ups — every row in Browse all, in search results and inside recipes.
• Never sleep — the card on Home, or Keep awake with the lid closed in Browse all › Power. They're the same setting and share one star.
• Power switches in Browse all › Power, such as Disable Power Nap and Low Power Mode.

Sliders, Turn the display off after, and the tools with cards of their own — Keep awake, Clean Mode, Hot Corners and the rest — don't have stars.

The Favorites screen

Click Favorites in the sidebar. It shows, in order: your starred recipes as cards, the Never sleep card, your starred power switches, and your starred power-ups — each with its working switch or Apply button.

With nothing starred it reads No favorites yet. The number beside Favorites in the sidebar counts starred recipes, starred power-ups and the Never sleep card.

In the menu bar

Click the Mainspring icon in the menu bar. Under Favorites you'll find the same items as one-click rows: recipes apply or revert, and power-ups and power switches flip on or off, with their current state on the right. See The menu bar panel.

Stars are saved on your Mac and survive restarts.
