On now: see and undo everything you've changed
On now answers “what did I change?”. It gathers everything that's currently switched on, so you can review it and undo any of it from one screen.
Get there
- Click On now in the sidebar. The number beside it is how many things are on.
- Or click the … on pill at the top right of the window, which appears whenever anything is on.
What it lists
“Everything you've turned on — revert any of it here.” In order:
- Applied recipes, as cards. Hover over Applied and click Revert to undo one, or click the card to open it.
- Keep awake with the lid closed, if it's on.
- Power switches that are on, such as Disable Power Nap.
- Power-ups you turned on individually — ones that aren't part of an applied recipe.
Each keeps its usual switch, so undoing is one click. When nothing is on, the screen says Nothing's on.
What the count includes
The count adds up applied recipes, individually enabled power-ups, the lid-closed setting and power switches that are on. A recipe counts once, however many power-ups it contains.
Some things aren't listed because they're temporary or aren't simple on/off settings: Keep awake timers, Clean Mode, Dark Mode, Turn the display off after, sliders, Hot Corners, the screenshot folder, Show the Library folder, private folders, the lock-screen message and the Network tools. Each shows its own state on its card in Browse all.
It reads your Mac, not a log
Mainspring checks your Mac's actual settings whenever you open the window or make a change, so On now reflects changes made in System Settings too. If you apply a recipe and then switch one of its power-ups off, the recipe no longer counts as applied — its remaining power-ups appear individually instead.
