The Mainspring menu bar panel

Click the Mainspring spiral in your menu bar and a panel opens with your favorites, every recipe and a few quick tools — no need to open the main window.

What's in the panel

Network › Hotspot mode

Turns Hotspot mode on or off.

Utilities › Clean keyboard

Starts a one-minute Clean Mode session. If Mainspring doesn't have Accessibility permission yet, it opens the main window so you can grant it.

Utilities › Tidy windows now

Runs Tidy windows for a call.

Utilities › Restore … windows

Appears after a tidy, with the number of windows, and brings them back.

Favorites

Everything you've starred — recipes, power-ups, Never sleep and power switches. Until you star something, it says “Favorite a recipe or power-up to see it here.”

For you

The top four power-ups suggested for you, once you've personalized.

Recipes

Every recipe.

Reading the rows

• Recipes show a faint Apply, or a tick when applied — hover the tick and it becomes an undo arrow. Click to apply or revert.
• Power-ups and power switches show On or Off. Click to flip.
• Tidy windows for a call shows Run.
• A Safari or TextEdit power-up that needs permission shows Allow; clicking it opens Full Disk Access in System Settings. See Use power-up switches.

At the bottom

Hide Mainspring Dock icon

Makes Mainspring menu-bar-only: no Dock icon and no place in the ⌘Tab app switcher while its window is closed. The Dock icon returns while the main window is open, so menus and shortcuts work normally.

Open Mainspring

Opens the main window.

Quit

Quits Mainspring completely. Your settings stay as they are, but automations, Hotspot mode and the Low-latency Wi-Fi re-check pause until you open it again.

Closing the main window doesn't quit Mainspring — it stays here in the menu bar.
