Switch Dark Mode on and off
The Display section has one card: Dark Mode — “Switch the whole system to dark appearance.” It's the same setting as Appearance in System Settings, one click away.
Use it
- Open Browse all and pick the Display chip.
- Flip the Dark Mode switch. Every app that follows the system appearance switches with it.
Flip it off to go back to light.
The first time
Mainspring changes the appearance by asking macOS's System Events to do it — the same route a Shortcut or script would take. The first time, macOS may ask whether Mainspring can control System Events. Click Allow; otherwise macOS blocks the change. You can change your answer later in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Automation.
Why Mainspring stays light
Mainspring's own window and menu-bar panel always use their light design, whichever mode the rest of your Mac is in.
Dark Mode isn't counted in On now and isn't part of scenes.
