Turn the display off after: set your screen's sleep timer

“Turn the display off after” sets how long your Mac waits, with no activity, before putting the screen to sleep. It's a menu rather than a switch, because the question is how long.

Change it

1. Open Browse all and pick the Power chip.
2. Find Turn the display off after ADMIN — “How long the Mac waits before putting the screen to sleep.”
3. Open the menu on the right and choose a time.

The choices are 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and Never.

If the menu shows something else

The menu shows your Mac's real current value. If it's set to a time Mainspring doesn't offer — from Terminal or another app — the menu shows that value, such as “7 min”, rather than pretending it's the nearest option. Pick any option to replace it.

How it's applied

It sets macOS's displaysleep power setting for every power source, battery and adapter alike. That needs administrator rights, hence ADMIN: the helper installed with Mainspring applies it without a prompt; otherwise macOS asks for your password.

Never keeps the screen on until you change it — on a laptop, that uses more battery.

The display timer isn't listed in On now and isn't part of scenes.
